Course overview
Mental health legislation, services and public attitudes have evolved over time. This course focuses on the study of mental health and mental well-being to support different occupational areas. You will understand how to support mental well-being through various stages of life, mental ill health, treatment options available and the potential consequences of mental ill health, as well as the skills required to work in a mental health service.

- Promotion of mental health and wellbeing
- Mental health problems: associated issues and consequences
- Understanding mental ill health
- Working in mental health
Practical training
No practical training is required to complete this course.
Prerequisites
You do not need to have any additional qualifications before studying this course, however, you might find it helpful if you have already achieved a mental health qualification, or qualifications in healthcare or social care contexts.
Learners should be at least 16 to undertake this qualification.
Level
On successful completion of this course you will achieve the NCFE CACHE Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Mental Health qualification.
The NCFE CACHE Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Mental Health is a regulated qualification. This means it is a nationally recognised qualification, regulated by Ofqual in England.
Successful completion of this qualification will support progression into relevant employment within the health and social care sector.
